What’s under your rocks?
When the stone was rolled away on the tomb where Jesus was buried, suddenly new opportunities were born.
One of the blessings of going to a small church is being a substitute teacher Sunday School teacher. The fifth & sixth-grade teachers were off to Myrtle Beach for a quick vacation and asked my husband and me to teach the class.
I’m always excited to teach this class because the kids are so much fun to teach. They obey, listen to the teachers, and ask some really good questions. So when I was asked, I quickly said yes.
Easter Sunday automatically means an Easter Resurrection Bible story. But I love how the Resurrection is not just about Christ raising out of the tomb, it is how this miracle affects me today.
I am so thankful for how Christ has changed my life for the better. It is easy to think that under a pile of rocks that there is nothing worthwhile, but that is not so with Christ.
Under the rock of Pride — Christ shows humility.
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. James 4:6
Under the rock of pain — Christ brings me healing
Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psalms 147:1,3
Under the rock of selfishness — Christ shows me kindness
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Corinthians 5:15
Under the rock of anger — Christ shows me mercy
Rejoice the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. Psalms 86:4,5
Under the rock of guilt — Christ brings me freedom
That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Romans 8:21
The hope that the resurrection brings me is change.
I don’t stay the same; I am changed by belief in Him.
