What is Christmas to us?
A variety of Christmas goodies to eat?
Having the family all together?
If we believe in Christmas we believe it is the celebration of the birth of Jesus, the son of God, who came to save the world. He was born to poor, ordinary parents in the manger of an inn.
If we truly believe in Christmas we cannot forget that humble birth of Christ and make the celebration all about us.
Christmas is about the whole world. It is about Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and yes atheists. Christmas is about black people, brown people, yellow people and white people. Christmas is about men, women, gay people, straight people, healthy people, sick people and handicapped people. Christmas is about the man living in a mansion and about the child who has no home or nothing to eat.
In other words, Christmas is about love and humanity. Christ’s birth symbolizes love for our fellow man, so it is only fitting that we celebrate His birth not by decorations, trees, food or gifts, but by showing love to each other, family, friends and strangers alike.
