“It’s not what your are, it’s what you don’t become that hurts.” — Oscar Levant
There is always something which we want to do from deep within without any peer pressure or listening to external minds around us, which comes straight from the heart, soul and every muscle fiber of our body. But there is always something which stops us or constrains us from doing that thing and ultimately makes us regret about that time where we may have done that thing but couldn’t because of some silly reasons. And that is when we realize how bad is this feeling of regret after 10, 20, 30 years.
Let’s dig through various scenarios and compare it with the feeling of regret:

1. It is worse than missing a train before a job interview.
The feeling that you get after missing a train while going for a crucial job interview is nothing in comparison to the feeling of regret which you get after few years down the road for not pursuing that passion is much more worse and much more painful. So go do that thing and pursue what you want, RIGHT NOW !!!
2. It is worse than getting bitten by a dinosaur.
I don’t know why I have used this point but it will definitely justify how bad it will feel when you get bitten by a dinosaur walking into the lane, I think you can imagine that situation. Then comes the feeling of regret which is much worse than this bite, because it damages and hurts your inner part of the physical and mental well-being. So before the dinosaur comes, do something which excites you at the same time makes you feel uncomfortable.
3. It is worse than having the knowledge and not putting any effort to use it.
Now imagine you have studied for 10+2 years(according to Indian Education System) in school and almost 2 to 3 years in college, and now you are well-equipped with good knowledge of everything, but you are wasting your time on watching Netflix, playing PUBG and scrolling on social media platforms instead of using your knowledge to pursue something useful and exciting which may help you in near future. Then you will regret the golden time you have when you are struggling to get a job or struggling to perform well in existing company.
4. It is worse than worst of the worst earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis put together.
We all have seen, heard or felt the worst of disasters whether on television, internet, or be in that disaster personally but the feeling of regret of not doing that thing which you loved is much worse than any disaster you saw. Because you can still improve your life condition, financial condition, and other related things after a disaster, but it is close to impossible to bring back the time that is gone and the opportunity which is once missed.
5. It is worse than having eyes and not seeing the beauty in front of you.
We all have been gifted these two beautiful eyes from god to see this beautiful world but we all don’t use our eyes to their maximum advantage and somehow tries to keep ourselves busy in our mobile screens and laptop screens.Which in turn affects our eyes when we try to look at some surreal scenery standing at the hill top because we are not used to see such beauty in real time, it’s all scrolling down and down and down until we feel sleepy enough. This my friend, is regret of not enjoying this incredible life by shutting down your eyes to most of the situations.
Make the most of your regrets; never smother your sorrow, but tend and cherish it till it comes to have a separate and integral interest. To regret deeply is to live afresh.
— Henry David Thoreau
