Analyzing My Year 2018 — a Look Back

God, what are Your plans for 2019?

This is a continuation of my thoughts from New Year’s 2018.

God, what are Your plans for this year?
A different look at goals for the coming yearmedium.com

Last year I looked at what God wanted me to do rather than me setting goals for the year. I read the following scripture in The Message.

This is God’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out — plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

“When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.

I have learned to listen. Not wonderfully but better.

For the past few years I have been asking God to show me a Word and a scripture to help me focus on what He wants for the year.

In the past years I have had words such as Intentional, Abound, and Finish.

Last year my word or word phrase was Go Forth.

2018 turned into one of experience.

I did go forth. I started new things, continued old ones.

Podcasting: I continue to podcast for Hope Stream Radio.

Writing: I am loving the freedom of writing on Medium.

Painting: I have continued to do some Batik watercolours; to paint the 33 dots; to challenge myself with Bible journaling; to challenge myself to paint for 30 days.

An example of my Bible art

Below is an example of 33 Dots which I did last year.

After making the connection with the dots, I visualized a picture. Then I painted it.

Publishing: I created a company and icon for a publishing company called Butterfly Beacons. I published one small sample book on KDP. But I am working on many more.

Listening to God: I sometimes get pictures (as with the 33 dots) but lately have been experiencing words — three of them, after studying a verse of scripture.

For example when I did 30 days of studying scripture for IJMCanada to fight against human trafficking, I studied Psalm 94:3

“O LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult (NIV)?”

“God, the wicked get away with murder…how long will you let this go on (The Message)?”

First I saw balloons, and then I saw God popping them. I did a Bible Art asking When will you pop the balloons of the wicked?

Then I prayed:

Lord, it’s time. It’s time to pop the balloons of the wicked. It’s time to end this evil. Show Yourself. Make a big splash in the world to get rid of human trafficking. Help expose all those evil people for who they are. Shine Your light. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Then I listened.. I heard three words,
traffic
children
abdicate

As I thought about these words I realized that God was saying take down the means of the trafficking — the way the victims are transported (and that is also the Internet). Traffic

And then to take back the children whose lives have been affected by this evil. Children

And end the bosses. Take down their thrones and destroy the ones in control. Abdicate

That helped me pray more. And listen more. And be aware.

And God answered.
