People crowding southern borders

Struggle to escape cruel oppression,

Fleeing South American countries

Ruled by dictators with firm hands.

On a daily quest for freedom

Trying to find a life to live,

Most with no intent to harm

Only seeking opportunities.

Compassion should be our gift to them

Diversity of being, their gift to us,

Willing to work with strong endurance

At many jobs our people don’t want.

Immigrants often bring new strengths

Adding to tapestries woven here,

Receiving them with love and kindness

Would demonstrate strength America has.
