Hurricane Florence tried to stop our love and failed.

The Wedding Finally Happened
My wedding finally happened.
And it was fantastic!
Sierra and mine’s love story is a little different from most people’s.
For those of you that didn’t already know, our original wedding was supposed to happen on September 15th, 2018.
Yeah, that was the same weekend as when Hurricane Florence pummeled our town.
Needless to say, my fiancee, Sierra and I were forced to reschedule the wedding.
A year of planning and preparing, gone, in an instant.
We were devastated, to say the least. Yet, we adjusted and rolled with the punches the best we could.
First and foremost, we made sure to protect ourselves and our family that lives in this town during the storm. We looked out for one another and made sure we were all safe.
Everything Was Perfect
Six months after our original wedding date, we ended up being able to have our wedding at Ironclad Brewery. This venue was the original place we wanted to have the wedding in the first place.
Our wedding planner made sure everything ran smoothly. Our vendors all stepped up big time and over-delivered on their promises.
The majority of our friends and family were able to come to the wedding still. The music our DJ played was fantastic.
The food was incredible. The Brewery was decorated flawlessly.
Our ceremony was short and sweet, but it was beautifully done.
Our reception was filled with dancing.
There were a couple of speeches by my Best Man and my fiancee’s Maid of Honor. We and our guests were able to drink some delicious adult beverages and my fiancee and I even staged an epic lip sync battle.
Everything ran smoothly and we didn’t experience a single hiccup throughout the entire evening.
Would our wedding have been this amazing had it happened on the original date with the way we had originally planned it?
Hurricane or no hurricane, I highly doubt it.
Everything Happens For A Reason
The original venue was much smaller and had much fewer resources. The staff was also non-existent compared to what we received at Ironclad.
The original venue was also an outdoor venue, so if it had rained, it could have ruined the ceremony and reception.
Our friends that work at the Brewery also went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was magical. They treated Sierra and me like we were royalty. On this night, we felt like a King and Queen.
Inside Edition also came back to do a follow-up piece on us when we got married over the weekend. Once again, the crew members were unbelievably kind to us and went out of their way to make us feel special.
Our special night was filled with laughs, tears (happy ones), and countless memorable moments. Sierra and I will never forget it.
Things may not have gone the way we originally had hoped but that’s life. Shit happens. All you can do is adjust and roll with the punches.
The old cliche really is true…
Everything happens for a reason.
