A Poem For Abuse Awareness in November

We are, but dandelions…

We are here for such a short time. When we go what seeds will we sow to the earth?

Abuse is not only a “They” word. It is a “We” word. It is an “I” word.

Once upon a meadow dandelions grew
Free and wild they stood
A day’s life
That is all
Seeds caught the tail of a breeze
They still live on and on

Once upon a fragile heart words fell
But flesh and soul need time to mature
Too soon
Those words cut deep
Stole life
Shadowed from the light

Once upon a cross my Savior died
Blood flowed from every side
Atonement made
He left the grave
So all could be made beautiful and free
Never more to be known or treated as a weed
