Faith is one of the things that we struggle the most with as Christians.
In a world that has become greatly visual, it is becoming increasingly hard for many to believe in things that they cannot see.
This has led to us having two kinds of Faith.
The first kind of Faith is based on who God is and what he can do, while the second kind of Faith is based on our senses and perception.
As you already know, the best kind of Faith is that which is based on God and who he is, It is important that You have a deep belief in what God has done for you.
I say this because, Jesus coming to Earth and also dying on the cross have already given us a lot of Provisions, the major issue here is knowing how to tap into Your Provisions.
No matter what you may be facing, be it sickness, poverty or Family issues. God has already made provisions to bring you peace in those areas.
The major Battle here is battling doubt. Allowing doubt to creep in is what brings stagnation and also regression.
Unbelief nullifies the prayer of Grace.
Now how does Faith come?
So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
Constant feeding on God’s word is necessary to build and also Maintain Faith.
There are times we listen to a Sermon or study God’s word and we see our Faith increase. We feel invincible at that moment and seek the Devil so that we can break his Neck.
The Late Bishop Benson Idahosa was one of the most powerful Men of God that we have ever seen in Nigeria, he also had Influence all around the World.
In one of his Sermons about Faith, he shared what happened when he finally understood what Faith what.
After studying his Bible for days, he gained the Revelation of Faith, he got on his Bicycle and rode around his town looking for a Dead Person to raise, after hours of search, he came across a house where someone died, he went in and prayed for the Woman and she rose from the Dead.
So how did Bishop Benson move from someone who doubted God to one who raised the dead?
The answer is simple. he got a revelation of what true Faith is and he ran with it.
Like I said earlier, there are times when our Faith becomes kindled, but failure to dwell on God’s word creates a room for doubt to come back to our hearts.
There is a God- Ward and Man- Ward side to every battle. so despite the promises of God, action is needed on your part to bring it to Fruition.
Faith is acting on God’s word, doubt is a refusal to act on God’s word.
It just requires an Understanding that Spiritual things are as real as physical things. God who is a Spirit created all Physical things.
Abraham Faith Vs Thomas Faith
Thomas was one of the disciples of Jesus and he is Famous for doubting the Resurrection of Jesus.
He is among the three disciples who failed Jesus in his Last Days on Earth. The other two was Judas and Peter who betrayed and denied him respectively.
The Thomas kind of Faith is the natural Human Faith which is based on evidence.
We are called to have faith like Abraham who had total dependence of the words of God. Abraham believed according to what God said, he did not believe based on what he saw.
People often fail to get answers to their prayers because their faith is based on Physical evidence or Sense knowledge.
God does not hear us when we feel that he has, he hears us when we believe in him.
Real Faith believes in God’s word no matter what the physical evidence looks like.
Feeling is the voice of the body, Concience is the voice of the Spirit
Two Kinds Of Unbelief
Unbelief is also of two kinds. It exists in two different way depending on the person.
The first kind of Unbelief is caused by a lack of knowledge. The greatest hindrance to faith is the lack of knowledge of God’s word.
The second kind of unbelief exists despite the presence of knowledge.
The cure for the first kind of unbelief is gaining knowledge, while the cure for the second kind of Unbelief is obedience.
Many times we know the right thing to do in a particular situation but we keep kicking the Can down the road on what we are meant to do.
Action has always been an Important part of the Faith process.
It is easy to have faith in the time of plenty, but when things get tough those with the Thomas kind of Faith slip back into putting their needs first.
Faith is as Important in time of Need as in the time for plenty. Many times we become comfortable with a particular level where we are, while God is calling us to a much higher place.
Enemies Of Faith
As Christians, there are several things that make us weak in the battle of Faith.
The first and the most rampant has always been the feeling of unworthiness.
Our sinful nature makes us believe that God is angry at us. So when asking for things there is that innate belief that God may not even answer.
Any Prayer that has elements of doubt in it is already doomed not to get a response.
But when you pray, you must believe and not doubt at all. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is driven and blown by the WInd (James 1:6 GNT)
When you understand your worthiness in Christ you won’t feel unworthy.
God does not heal or Baptize us into the Holy Spirit based on our Individual worthiness. We are not the ones to make ourselves worthy, God has made us worthy.
As far as you are in Christ, you are a New Creature. God does not create an unworthy New Creature. Being in Christ has made you the righteousness of God.
Another Enemy of Faith is Hope.
When you substitute Faith with Hope, you will begin to experience Lack or unanswered prayers.
God has already given us all spiritual blessing through Christ, what is required is for you to key into his word. You have to confess and believe the provision made for your situation in God’s word.
You must not also let wavering dominate your spirit. Like I said earlier, doubt has no place in Prayer.
A wavering faith won’t work. The battle of the mind is strong and you should do all you can to win it.
Faith acts in the face of contrary evidence. Counting something done before God acts compels God to action.
