9 Hours Before Takeoff

Today is the day that the warm-up flight takes us to the layover city where we still haven’t come up with much to do. It’s going to be hot there. It’s hot here. It’s hot in Madrid. Why aren’t we going to Norway on a plane that takes off in 9 hours?

Plane Clothes

Do you put much thought into what you wear on the plane? I’d like to look nice. I’d also like to have something nice to wear in Spain without stuffing it into the suitcase. But it’s hot here and hot there. I’d have to wear the nice clothes twice, once on the warm-up flight to the hot city and again on the flight to Spain.

Spain is also hot.

If you’re going to be on a plane for nine hours, you want to be comfortable.

I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who wears blazers, but if you wear a blazer in the summer here in Fort Worth, you’ll blaze. It’s just too hot. And now we’re flying to these two hot places on these two planes.

The Space Gem

I thought I ran out of things to write about, and I wrote about running out of things to write about in 54 Hours Before Takeoff. Then with 31 Hours Before Takeoff I remembered packing.

I wrote 54 Hours Before Takeoff at my Dads, not in my usual writing space. I wrote 31 Hours Before Takeoff in my usual workspace. I wrote about the importance of workspace in The Happiness Infinity Gauntlet. This is a great example. Outside my workspace I had trouble flowing. In my workspace, my mind went to writing mode. My mind opened up and listened. Writing is Listening.

That’s just one, big nugget — pun intended — that you’ll get from my new book.

Packing Part II

I did set out some things to pack, but I didn’t put anything in my suitcase yet. I’ve mostly decided what to take. It’s the whole what-to-wear-on-the-plane thing that is throwing me off.

Confession Time

I’m too excited to write.

I’m usually too excited about writing to do anything but write, but today I’m too excited about leaving to focus on writing. I usually can’t wait to write. What I’m going to write the next morning often keeps me awake at night. I think in blog posts. I hear Doogie Howser’s voice in my head.

The voice of The Prime Blogger.

Just kidding about Doogie Howser’s voice. I don’t even remember what he sounded like. If I try to imagine his voice I hear Barney Stinson’s voice. True Story.

End of Countdown High Five!

See you in Spain!

Finally, I’m getting to Spain. I dragged these 11 Days out for three weeks.

Coming up next: Five Hours after Landing. In Spain!

I’ve got a link to my Kindle book up there, so no locking this post. That means…
