The book of Proverbs is not your to go book in the Bible when you’re in a tiff with God. However, at times when you have not been reading the Word, it’s your best starting point.
When we find ourselves in a tiff with God, it is because we grew distant. He did not. He seems far because we are far.
Frequently Peddled Verses
It is well.
All things work together for good.
He has a good plan for you, to give you a future and a hope.
And Indeed He has a good plan for us. All will be well and in the end, it all works out but in that moment, all those verses sound like an insult. God has seen the end from the beginning and yes the end will be greater but we haven’t. Our pain cannot comprehend why the issue we are facing will indeed work out for us in the end.
It May Take a Verse to Heal
There are times when a verse is just what we needed at that moment. In those times we pray from that verse, we own it, seize it and petition heaven from that verse. His words will not return to Him void unless they accomplish what He sent them out to do.
The Psalms is a great book if you’re feeling sad, depressed, happy or grateful and don’t know how to express them.
It May take your Love to Heal Someone else’s Pain
Sometimes it takes more than a scripture. It is well will not work for someone who just lost a child. It takes a hug, being there, support and helping in the most mundane things like washing the dishes and doing laundry to encourage some of us, and even ourselves if we meet ourselves in such situations.
They’re times when I wanted something more tangible than scripture. Because at times your preaching is not needed; your humanity is called for and the expression of your faith and love called to question.
Because love is the deed, not the word.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 1 Cor 13;8
