They make me want to be a better human being.

Earlier today, I had a couple of beers with one of my best friends. I have been friends with him for about 11 years now. Our friendship has been filled with countless positive memories and today was another perfect example of why I only hang out with high-quality people like him.

Allow me to explain.

Our Walk Together

After my buddy and I finished our beer, we went for a walk together around the downtown area of the town we both live in.

We talked about some of the things we are dealing with currently including both of our upcoming weddings. There were other things we talked about as well.

Yet, what resonated the most with me about the conversation we had was how many fantastic people we have been able to bring into each other’s lives over the past decade.

We went back to the brewery we were at earlier and as soon as we walk in through the front door, my best friend sees a customer he knows. My buddy walks over to the gentleman, shakes his hand and then introduces me to him.

The next thing I know me and this person are talking about writing for the next 2 hours!

Words Were Bringing Us Together

Turns out this man that my best friend introduced me to is a self-published Author with numerous books listed on Amazon and he has been doing a phenomenal job of networking with people in the local community as well.

The man showed me some of the books he has already published and talked to me about some of his current writing projects.

He even talked to me about different events that he has held at some of the local breweries in town to help him promote his books.

I was blown away!

I talked to him about my Blog and some of the writing projects I am currently working on and we fed off of each other’s energy. We were on the same wavelength talking about something we both loved.

Writing.

Words were bringing us together. Whether they were spoken or written words. It didn’t matter.

Two total strangers were now connected by something. A common interest, a common love.

Looks like I just made a new friend.

I introduced my new friend to my lovely fiancee and he talked to her about his wife as well.

The two of them bonded somewhat as my fiancee talked about her job and how excited she is for our wedding to happen at this very brewery.

With my best friend still sitting two seats away from us, I couldn’t help but think to myself…

This is why I only associate with people that are of the highest quality.
