Try this interesting technique.

Let’s take a little trip down memory lane, shall we?

Think back to your teenage years — ah, the good old days, sorta.

Perhaps you were a rebel without a cause, ready to stick it to ‘the man’ and start a revolution.

Maybe you were a little more reserved, lost in your own head trying to find yourself and make sense of the world.

Whatever your demeanour back then.

Is this how you imagined things would be when you reached this point in your life?

Were your expectations higher?

From a young age, everyone has grand ideas of how they would like their future to play out.

But as you get older those dreams change.

Are your goals today the same as they were back then?

Or have you set your sights even higher?

If your answer is no to the latter. Then it’s about time you show some ambition in life.

But if you answered yes — that your dreams are bigger now than they have ever been — then good.

Now, what are you doing to achieve them?

A Balancing Act

It’s fantastic that your goals have gotten bigger and better with age.

You’ve allowed them to grow.

To mature.

And now they shine like a beacon, guiding you towards the life of your dreams.

But, as you know, the older you get the more responsibilities are placed upon you.

Life becomes a bit of a balancing act.

Working a 9–5, raising a family and running a household being the main focus of daily life — at least, for most people.

Those three things alone can be more than enough to deal with, you have a lot of plates in the air.

And keeping them all spinning can be tricky at times.

But you cope — for the most part.

Though finding time to chase your dreams can seem quite impossible.

Your train of thought may even replicate this;

“If I were to make a serious attempt at building my dream life, timing would be everything. I’d have to hold off until ‘the stars were aligned’. Wait for that perfect moment.”

But the thing is — and no doubt you’ve heard it all before — there is no such thing as the perfect moment.

There will never be a time when everything is ‘just right’

However, there will always be an excuse not to get after it.

Yea, but what can you do about it?

You can allow your dreams to remain as they are.

A place to escape when you daydream.

Stuck in your comfortable, predictable rut.

You can snap out of it, come up with a plan and force your way to success.

Are You Ready to Get Serious?

Stop with the excuses.

Accept that there will never be an ideal time to get started.

Get your ass in gear and let’s get this show on the road, baby!

By now you’ve come to realize, waiting for things to happen gets you nowhere.

It just doesn’t work like that.

You’ve got to take action.

Get the ball rolling. Today!

And this is the way you’re going to do it;

  • Make a list of the steps required in order for you to reach your goals — it doesn’t have to be perfect or detailed.
  • Look at the first step you have written down.
  • Take a deep breath
  • Now pull the trigger. Do step one today. Get started right now. Don’t think about it!

The voice in your head — the one that’s been holding you back all these years — is probably going into overdrive right about now;

“No, I can’t do that. It’s insane. Things need to be planned. I need to talk to my partner. We need to….”

These are all excuses.

There is no perfect moment, remember?

By just getting started, regardless of your current situation, you have taken the first step.

You are closer now than ever before.

It will be scary.

It may even be the scariest thing you’ve ever done.

But you’ll feel alive. A sense of excitement will wash over you as you finally take action to create the life that you desire.

By putting yourself in an uncomfortable position you are forcing yourself to adapt.

Your first step may be small but that doesn’t stop it being any less nerve-wracking.

For example;

It could be something as simple as paying for an online course in order to obtain the skills you need to progress onwards to your step number two.

But, by paying for it you will now be short on rent for this month.

What should you do?

You know, deep down, that you can get the rent money up by the end of the month if you put your mind to it.

It will be hard work be it is certainly achievable. Take a leap of faith.

Adapt and overcome.

You now have no option but to succeed.

Find a way to pay the rent and make it to the next stage on your list.

Then, rinse and repeat.

Force yourself to succeed.

“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” — George Addair

Be Fearless, Not Reckless.

Of course, there does need to be some sort of logic applied when making such decisions.

Don’t be reckless.

This is calculated risk.

Or a shove in the right direction.

In order to get to where you want to be in life, you are going to have to be fearless at times.

Make sacrifices and put yourself in uncomfortable situations.

But you will come out the other side stronger and closer to your goals— if you put the work in.

Nobody is going to do it for you.

Only you have the power to change your life.

So, are you ready to get started?
